The Division's major contract is to support the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) with research focusing on new and improved methods of fertility regulation for men and women that are safe, effective, inexpensive, reversible, and acceptable.
This includes:
- Testing of drugs that can influence male and
female fertility.
- Development of the methods of administration of contraceptive
drugs that can improve the bioavailability of the drug.
- Development of technology that can determine more effectively
the fertility period.
- Development of methods that are easily useable for the detection
of reproductive hormones.
- Isolation and identification of specific antigens unique to
the reproductive system which could be utilized for antifertility
vaccine development.
- Several of the assays provided to government contracts are also
available for commercial customers, for example, chemical manufacturers.
A list of the available assays appears on the Contract Services
page.
